Bringing the first version of HydroCharge to life wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible partners. When it comes to developing hydrogen technologies, a great idea or a working concept is only the beginning. The real challenge—and where true expertise comes in—is designing a system that delivers seamless functionality while keeping safety and absolute reliability at its core.
Managing the Power of Hydrogen
Our station is a beautifully complex system made up of dozens of specialized components: an electrolyzer, a booster, high-pressure storage cylinders, pressure sensors, and other advanced high-pressure equipment. Together, they must operate flawlessly as a single, unified system at pressures reaching up to 700 bar.
Designing a system like this goes far beyond just making parts fit together physically. It requires a deep understanding of how hydrogen behaves as temperatures and pressures shift. Our engineering focus has been on:
- Preventing leaks before they can even start.
- Designing for easy, safe maintenance to make ownership stress-free.
- Ensuring long-term reliability so the system runs smoothly for years to come.
From day one, safety has been our absolute priority. Hydrogen is a phenomenal clean energy carrier, but handling it safely requires deep technical knowledge, top-tier components, and incredibly smart design. As a key part of our development, we conduct rigorous risk analyses—repeatedly playing out different scenarios to understand how the system reacts under various conditions and proactively designing solutions to mitigate those risks.

Collaboration with Swagelok Helsinki
No matter how skilled a team is, the best innovation happens when you collaborate with world-class experts. That is why we teamed up with Swagelok Helsinki. They have been far more than just a component supplier to us—they have shared their immense expertise, helped train our team, and served as a brilliant sounding board for solving complex technical challenges. Their decades of experience with hydrogen and high-pressure systems have helped us make smarter engineering decisions and avoid hurdles that are incredibly difficult to anticipate.
Recently, Egon Teenpere and Matiss Vaivods from Swagelok Helsinki visited our workshop to review our completed first version. Together, we analyzed what worked perfectly, where we can improve, and how to make the next version even safer, more reliable, and easier to service. Getting direct, hands-on feedback from industry veterans who live and breathe hydrogen systems every day is incredibly valuable to us.Additionally, we are adapting the design so it can be deployed in diverse environments. The system has to be able to operate safely and reliably both indoors and outdoors, meeting all relevant environmental safety standards.
What’s Next: A Modular Future
During their visit, we also shared the exciting new concept we are currently developing for HydroCharge. Our next version is moving toward a modular design. This means that the hydrogen production, compression, storage, and refueling units will be separate, plug-and-play modules. Customers will be able to mix, match, and scale these modules to perfectly fit their specific needs. We will be sharing more details about this concept on our website very soon!
